The Great Aquatic Park
Art Exhibition of 2021
One of the things we learned during the pandemic is the importance of access to nature and open space. Finding a respite from the stress of life and communing with nature became one of the best ways to cope with COVID-19. It is with this lens that we look to the future, and part of that future is reimagining Aquatic Park and Pier.
This special area includes land that is part of two national parks, GGNRA and San Francisco National Maritime Historical Park, plus land governed by the City of San Francisco. Aquatic Park and its iconic pier are the maritime heart and soul of San Francisco.
Located at the north end of Van Ness Avenue and tucked along the water where Fisherman’s Wharf meets Ghirardelli Square, Aquatic Park is one of the few places where people can touch the Bay. Here you can swim, kayak, fish, enjoy the beach, visit historic ships, or simply take in the majestic views to the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz or the city skyline. How do you like to enjoy this magical water wonderland?

Perhaps you have a favorite spot you'd like to draw the view from or maybe the swimmers have inspired you to write a poem- in what ways has Aquatic Park and its environs inspired and uplifted you? Now's your chance to show the world your unique perspective.
The purpose of the exhibition is to amplify the creative voices in our community and at the same time bring awareness to this often neglected “hidden gem” of the city. The exhibition is open to all ages and all levels of experience.
